Edward Mortimer CMG (born 22 December 1943 in Burford, Oxfordshire) was until January 2007 the Director of Communications in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General. He is an author, journalist, and fellow of All Souls College Oxford. Mortimer is now Senior Vice President of The Salzburg Global Seminar, and is a member of the Advisory Council of Independent Diplomat. He serves as an Advisory Board member for the Institute for Historical Justice and Reconciliation. Before joining the United Nations he was a columnist and leader writer for the ''Financial Times''.
